Short Term Recomendations

NAVIGATION ISSUES

Cristian is on to something with the re-organization of the second level navigation.
We currently already have a Level 3 navigation style in place.
We will most likely need at least 3 levels of Navigation, possibly 4.

Problem

Page Titles with the Level 2 Navigation layout is confusing.

Currently the Level 2 Navigation links appear below the page's content title.

For example, with the About Us page: http://www.swiftcom.com/about-us/ the page's content title "ABOUT US" appears above the Level 2 navigation. This makes sense for a Level 2 page, but this layout causes confusion a Level 3 page. For example on the Swift Mgmt page: http://www.swiftcom.com/about-us/management-team/ the page's content title is "SWIFT EXECUTIVE TEAM" and this title appears above the Level 2 Navigation links. In other words we should not be placing content Title in between Level 1 Nav and Level 2 Nav.

Proposed Solution

Swap the location of the Level 2 Nav and the page's content Title

Place the navigation above the title. This would be a simple change to institute site wide.

HOMEPAGE DESIGN

Problem

The homepage opening paragraph is too wide

Proposed Solution

Add a second column to the row with the paragraph. It could featured ????

Medium Term Recomendations

AWARDS SECTION

http://www.swiftcom.com/about-us/awards/

The content of this section seems to consist of

  1. Landing page introduction
  2. Landing page featured awards (Swifty)
  3. Links to sub-pages (Level 3)
    1. These subpages are messy lists and paragraphs.

Problem

The Awards Page needs a reorg. Currently the Awards are organized by Properties then by Year. Overall the content from one award page to another is not very consistent. Some content is wordy and other content is list-y. The current page structure uses a Level 3 page for each Property's awards.

Proposed Solution

Awards ReOrg Option 1 - One Page
Continue using a Level 2 page for Awards but remove the Level 3 Property award pages all together. The content of these page can be resorted by year. This information could be condensed with shorter descriptions and using lists where possible. This content could exist on one page.

Awards ReOrg Option 2 - Paginated
If the Option 1 approach  does not condense content well to one page then this approach could be used. Continue using a Level 2 page for Awards. The content of the Level 3 pages can be resorted by year (not by Property). This information could still be condensed with shorter descriptions and using lists where possible. The landing page of Awards could list the most previous 10 awards, then continuing on to paginated pages with the rest of the content. This would be similar to this page's content organization:http://www.omidyar.com/about_us/news

Awards ReOrg Option 3 - Scrollable Box
Continue using a Level 2 page for Awards but remove the Level 3 Property award pages all together. The content of these page can be resorted by year. This information could be condensed with shorter descriptions and using lists where possible. This content could exist in a scrollable box.

All three of these option suggest that we reorganize the content by time, not property.

NEWS SECTION

SubSection needs some reworking.

A Blog might be more appropriate???

Current using Level 2 Nav/Level 3 wrong.

Move Video Library upto Level 2 of About Us.

Long Term Recomendations

PUBLICATION SECTION

http://www.swiftcom.com/publications/

This section could use some updates in the long term.
Some Ideas
1. The landing page for Publications could organize the publications by property groups rather than states. This would allow for links directly to the Property detail page.
2. The content could use some layout updates (to discuss later)
